Greig Farm
What They Are about
Greig Farm is a third-generation family farm located in Red Hook, NY. The farm was founded in 1942 by Marion and Robert Greig, who began the farm with a small herd of dairy cows, an apple orchard, and a strawberry patch, which was open to the public. Their son, Norman Greig, began farming in 1975 and gradually added blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, pumpkins and other crops to the farm.
They have always felt a responsibility to provide our community with a welcoming space and sustainably-grown, healthy produce. Their 1850s dairy barn was once home to seventy cows and today it is home to our farm market & cafe, a local craft market, and an art gallery. Their home is your home, and they look forward to the next 70+ years in the Hudson Valley.
The Farmhouse is located at the heart of the farm. Your stay here will give you a true sense of life on the farm. Start your day with complimentary farm-fresh breakfast at the market before following the dirt road to the berry patch and apple orchard to pick your own fruit. After a day in the fields (or exploring the Hudson Valley), rest up on the front porch or backyard, where you’ll likely catch a stunning view of the sun setting over the Catskill Mountains.
Our Notes
Look out for the friendly family of pygmy goats that can be found playing on their jungle gym and rolling around mountains of hay all year round. If you come visit in the late winter or spring, you may even get a chance to see some of the newborn kids. Bring a few quarters to feed the goats alfalfa pellets from your hand.
